InLoox Desktop Tools Overview
The InLoox Desktop Tools are an optional extension that enables InLoox Web App to access local drives and network file servers. They are required when files are opened or linked directly from the file system rather than stored in InLoox.
What Desktop Tools Enable
The Desktop Tools provide the following capabilities:
- Open files directly — Open files from a local or network file server directly from InLoox without downloading them (only available in InLoox Self-Hosted Edition)
- Add file links — Create links to local or network files within InLoox documents

Desktop Tools are only needed if you work with files stored on local drives or network file servers. Files uploaded to InLoox do not require Desktop Tools.
