System Requirements

The InLoox for Outlook Modern Add-in requires the following system components.

Microsoft Exchange

One of the following products is required:

  • Microsoft Exchange Online (usually part of Microsoft 365 Business)
  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2016*, 2019*, SE — With an on-premises Exchange Server, you may only be able to use the Modern Add-in in restricted mode (without access to email attachments), depending on the Outlook client used. Features such as time tracking from calendar appointments are fully supported.

*Exchange Server 2016 and 2019 have no longer been supported by Microsoft since October 2025, and there are no more security updates. We strongly recommend upgrading to the current version.

Outlook Client

One or more of the following products is required:

  • Windows: Microsoft Outlook 2021 or higher / Microsoft Outlook for Microsoft 365 in latest version
  • Windows: Microsoft Outlook 2016/2019 retail (may have functional restrictions, additional installation/activation of WebView2 required)
  • Mac: Microsoft Outlook 2016 for Mac or higher / Microsoft Outlook for Mac in latest version
  • Web: Microsoft Outlook on the web (with Microsoft 365 Business)

Microsoft Outlook 2016/2019 volume-licensed versions are not compatible with the Modern Add-in.

Internet Connection

A connection to the Internet or to the InLoox Self-Hosted Server is required.
